How does art retain its meaning and value during times of uncertainty, such as war, environmental crises, and economic instability?

"Moments of crisis remind us how fragile the structures upon which we build our lives truly are. That is why I believe art becomes especially important in such times – not because it offers certainty, but because it allows us to confront uncertainty without looking away. While crises often reduce people to statistics, headlines, or political narratives, art draws attention to experiences that resist simplification. I do not believe the value of art lies in providing ready-made answers. For me, it is valuable when it carries a certain weight – a discomfort that encourages us to search for answers within ourselves. That weight may take the form of an uncomfortable question, a visual friction that exposes an unwanted truth, or a stain of colour that disrupts an otherwise harmonious image."

EXHIBITION PREVIEW // Beauty becomes survival in `Midnight Bloom` by Ornélie, at Corey Helford Gallery

Opening on August 8 at Corey Helford Gallery @coreyhelfordgallery is the enigmatic new solo exhibition by French sculptor, Ornélie @ornelie.sculpture. Midnight Bloom is centered around a series of psychological portraits that evoke resilience, adaptation and survival.
It will be showing alongside Molly Delvin @devlinmolly: The Hollow in Gallery 3, and Corey Helford Gallery`s 20th Anniversary exhibition in the Main Gallery.
