Top 100 Paper Artists on Instagram in 2019

As the Editor-in-Chief of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, I have had the pleasure of working with many incredible Paper Artists for almost 7 years now – for the magazine itself, our web blog, our curated exhibitions, the Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize, and of course, sharing their work across our 980,000+ strong social media network.

As we get stuck into the new year and new decade, I wanted to share with you a list of people whom I believe are among the greatest living and working paper artists of 2019. As you will see the list includes many different paper art techniques including: paper folding, paper cutting, paper sculpture, huge paper installations, paper set design, paper quilling, origami and so much more! This is not an exhaustive list by any means, and is not in any particular order, however as you will see the works speak for themselves. You may note that there are some paper artists who are conspicuously missing, this is because I have not included artists with a minimal or no Instagram presence, because as you will see all the artists mentioned below are linked to their Instagram accounts, so you can quickly and easily follow them too!

If you are an paper artist, or know one that you feel should be included in our next list, please comment below. I am always in search of exciting new creatives!

Finally, paper artists can also enter the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize in the Yasha Young Sculpture Award category. The Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize is an annual international art prize that celebrates diversity and excellence in the representational visual arts, in all static mediums including Traditional Art media, Digital Art media, and Photographic media; and all styles. The Prize seeks to inspire creatives from around the world to pursue a life and career in the arts, and to help careers grow through financial support for their practice, and increased exposure of their work to galleries, collectors and media globally. Entries for this year’s Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize, are now open! I can’t wait to see your entries.

✂️All of the images in this installation were hand cut 🤯 It was a long, meditative and physically intense undertaking done with exacto-blades and tiny scissors. After cutting out the images in the Mushroom Hunters (featured in this picture) and my commissions in Australia… I had a lot of wrist pain and lost the feeling in my thumb for several months. The prospect of losing my ability to make these papery worlds because my hands giving out was truly scary! . I began rethinking my work and how I can keep creating these papery worlds that exist so brightly in my mind. . So, I am going to invest in a desktop laser cutter this year as I want to work bigger (!) and … I want to save my hands. I am excited about this new chapter for me and my work. Suddenly, I don't feel limited by my body and my dreams for my work are bigger. I have so many ideas to make real they are filling my mind at night! Time for a studio retreat… . . . 📸 @kolja.raschke . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #artoftheday #artiststudio #collageart #installationart #contemporaryart #artofinstagram #art #artworks #worldofartists #worldofartists #artonpaper #artofvisuals #papersculpture #artista #paperflowers #artlife #artlovers #botanicalart #paperblooms #artstagram #windowdisplay #sculpture #berlinartist #artiststudio #gallery #contemporaryart #artistoninstagram #artiststudio #art_spotlight #artcollector

🖼 🏃‍♀️**>>Charity Print Giveaway <<**🏃‍♀️ 🖼 Hi all – I’m running my first marathon in #Bournemouth on 7th October and raising money for @alzheimerssoc , a charity which is close to my heart due to the suffering that my Gran went through towards the end of her life. I’m quite behind with my fundraising so far so I decided to do a giveaway of some of my art prints to anyone who sponsors me £15 or more between now and the marathon date (while stocks last). . . 1. Sponsor £15 to receive an A4 art print of your choice from the following options: (1-6 *numbered artwork on Just Giving photo page*) . . 2. Sponsor £20 to receive an A3 art print of your choice from the following options: (7-15 *numbered artwork on Just Giving photo page*) . . 3. Sponsor £35 or more to receive an A3 limited edition art print of your choice from the following options: (16-19 *numbered artwork on Just Giving photo page*) . . Not only are these prices are much cheaper than my online retail price, but all of that money will go directly to the charity. You can donate directly through my Just Giving Page (Link in my bio) Once you’ve done that just send me your address and your choice of print, and I’ll get one in the post for you. ** Please note if you’re from outside of the UK message me first to discuss postage costs** . . Thanks so much for your support. Every little helps especially when people all come together. You can donate anonymously if you choose to as well :) . THANK YOU! 😁 Sam x 👍🙏💙🙌❤️🧡🏃‍♀️✂️📐🌳🌲🌞🌼🌸💚 . . . . . #paperartist #papercraft #paper #paperillustration #paperart #papercut #gfsmith #alzheimerssociety #charity #instaartist #instaart #charityrunner #handcrafted #papersculpture #illustration #artist #illustrationoftheday #strictlypaperart #inspirationgrid #lgenpaper #artsale #fundraiser #artprints #limitededitionprint #papercity #paperbristol #justgiving #paperisland @justgiving #bournemouthmarathon

The 'Ram' sculpture was technically my most challenging creation. Balancing that sculpture was a nightmare because his body was hollow but his horns and face were all solid. While he seemed to be fairly balanced in his raw stage minus his coat, he just refused to stand AFTER I was done finishing his wool coat. It was a challenge then, to try and add a counter weight through his finished body, that would help him balance on his feet. I had to make an incision in his  butt and insert a flat piece of mount board adjusting its length until he regained his balance. Then I added a couple more flat pieces of mount boards for extra measure to keep him from toppling. Then his butt was sealed once again and the incision hidden behind his woolly coat :) . Making those swirly horns was another challenge. It was difficult to get paper around those horns in order to build those horns, if that makes sense!! All's well that ends well as they say :) He never lost his balance after that day and even traveled all the way to Italy for an exclusive 'ram' themed exhibition last year. He now stands comfortably in his forever home, somewhere in Italy. #AMonthInPaper #Instagramchallenge #paperartistcollective #mostchallengingcreation #papercutting #papermache #paperart #papercraft #paperartist #indianartist #australianartist #femaleartist #janakilele #janakilelescandidcuts #paper #papier #papel #carta #artistofinstagram #instadaily #instaart #artofinstagram #papersculpting #sheep #ram #indiefolio #platformforartists #characterdesign #January2020  #strictlypaperart #indiefolio
