Join The Dark Art Emporium on July 14th for the opening reception of Mike Bell’s wickedly-good solo exhibition, MONDOPOPCREEPSHOW. This mostly-monochromatic new body of work will pique your senses as it blends classic horror icons with pop culture. Frankenstein’s monster, scantily clad Playboy bunny Lily Munster, and a surfing creature from the Black Lagoon, his inspiring work flirts with the dark side while keeping lowbrow as its complement. And if that doesn’t grab your dark, little heartstrings… just wait until you see the eerie Pennywise box of matches that seems to echo, “Do you want a balloon too, Georgie?”
Located in beautiful downtown Long Beach, Ca., The Dark Art Emporium is a diverse environment dedicated to showcasing the artists and creators that often fly under the radar of most people’s perception of fine art. Here you will find everything from real human skulls, creepy dolls, unorthodox taxidermy, low brow, and dark fine art.
