The work of John Ball tells an interesting story… and on June 9th, Distinction Gallery shares his solo exhibition, ‘Beware the Void’ so that viewers alike can experience it for themselves. In this latest collection, dystopian suburban landscapes beckon curiosity like a cat to an open window. Dilapidated structures, vibrant shades unsettled in distant horizons, and bursts of fulsome light all create an almost-paranormal ambiance that transforms the ordinary to extraordinary.
Please join Distinction Gallery in celebration of ‘Beware the Void’. Reception includes live music, ArtHatch open studios, BK Cellars Wine, and Stone Beer.
From the director Melissa Inez Walker:
“I became aware of John Ball’s paintings as he was on “Sky Arts Landscape Artist Of The Year 2017 of which he was a finalist. His paintings of desolate buildings and landscapes have both an eerie quality while evoking a sense of serene calm. It is an honor to bring him from the UK for his first US exhibition”.

About the Artist:
Based in Romford and working primarily in the South East of the United Kingdom contemporary artist John Ball creates unsettling images of a dystopian suburban landscape.
‘John Ball’s work was a like a breath of fresh air on SkyArts Landscape Artist of the Year in 2017 with its unique sense of mood and use of color. The melancholic scenes that he constructs are poetic in themselves and full of story, to the point that they demand your attention and hold it very firmly indeed.’ – Kathleen Soriano
