Wes Anderson Tribute: Bad Dads IX group exhibition at Spoke Art

Cinematic artisan Wes Anderson has captured the hearts of many with his ability to create beautifully surreal worlds of quirky, unimaginable delight. Fostering nostalgia and wonder, his stylized films weave enchantments across the screen through his artistic use of distinctive colour palettes, sprinkled with layers of significant yet often subtle moments, and borderline fantastical characters. Whether you are new to Wes Anderson or a long-time fan, New York City’s Spoke Art is currently exhibiting a show for all lovers of visual delights in Bad Dads IX. Featuring over 75 artists, the group exhibition celebrates everything Wes Anderson through a mesmerising array of art and prints!

Bad Dads IX is the ninth iteration of this prevalent exhibition. Pulling its annual title from a common thread in each Anderson movie – that the father figures are absent, immature, awful – each artwork highlights a unique facet from one of Anderson’s twelve features.

From THIS IS FUN, ISN’T IT’s vintage comic book rendition of perhaps the most memorable scene from Moonrise Kingdom, to Isabella Addison’s portrayal of the iconic Margo Tenenbaum as an angry Margaret Keane figure, the nearly 100 works in the exhibition offer a spectacular range of character portraits and stylized film stills for Anderson lovers to love even more.
