Chrystal Chan, an artist based in Northern California, explores and creates magical characters and fantastical settings within her feminine, whimsical, but some-times dark paintings. Chyrstal, an artist interested in the spiritual worlds, creates art with strong metaphorical imagery. Within the scenes she creates, we can find multiple variations of what seem to be the same character; a young, big-eyed girl who finds herself in unusual, surreal circumstances. It is clear that she uses her artistic medium to explore certain aspects of life, in both the physical and spiritual realms. Her work often presents the subjects in dream-like scenarios that are based on mystical beings, or supernatural experiences.
Chrystal has shown in numerous galleries, been published, and has also composed music for a Sundance nominated short film.
