I made my first appearance in @kittbuch's oil painting "Time For Tea". (See images 2 & 3 in this post.)
Back then, I was a wee little meat scrap🥩just casually sipping a cup of chamomile☕tea when - quite suddenly - a bit of hell broke loose.
Zeppelins emerged from dark portals in the nuclear power plant's pink vapor clouds. Whoa...not good.
Since I'm a fight or flight kinda guy, I got the heck outta there by leaping through a celestial portal to the other side of the universe.
It's worth noting that some random dog in the park suddenly got the urge to nibble on my hand, so he inadvertently hitched a ride with me.
It's all cool, though, because - as you can see - now I'm literally the king of...everything! This is me looming over Jupiter, Mars, and a bunch of other cool planets - pretty cool, right?
Another fun fact. In this realm, I'm a bazillion feet tall and my flesh endlessly regenerates, which is why my fuzzy pal - who I named Rodolpho Pierre - has packed on a few extra pounds.
I always thought the keto diet was supposed to have the opposite effect!🤷

It's hard to fathom how a soft carbonaceous material such as charcoal - which is essentially🔥burned wood🌳- is capable of conveying so many subtle shades of our collective human experience, but that is precisely @johanbarrios' creative superpower.🦸
The Colombian mixed media artist transforms charred material that was formerly a TREE into artistic reflections of **humanity**, including the solace that we take among our closest confidants...our quiet moments of internal struggle...and occasionally even those times when we're seemingly hanging on by a thread.
If you have great admiration for figurative art with emotive finesse, then please take the time to explore his exquisitely soulful portfolio, plus keep an eye open for our exclusive print editorial with him (coming in the March 2023 issue of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine!).
But the best news of all? The works of art that you're gazing at right now are part of Johan Barrios' brand new solo exhibition "Encounters", which is opening on Saturday, December 3 at 🇩🇰 @kirkgallery (and YES, he'll be there in person to introduce the much anticipated event at 12:30 PM that afternoon (we wanna goooo)!
Congratulations to Kirk Gallery for arranging what will no doubt be one of the art highlights of the year...and cheers to Johan for dazzling us with this divine sneakypeeky!
INSIDE ISSUE 39 // "Take a glimpse into a world where four-legged creatures are unbothered by the hardships of life. Only joyous expressions of curiosity and playfulness exist in this realm. Large innocent eyes of various hues stare into the soul with a sweet and almost hypnotic sparkle, and crinkle into thin slits as a grin grows across their face. Bright white whiskers protrude and fan out across chubby cheeks. Petite pinkish noses meet an upturned mouth that flashes a mischievous smile. These creatures are one-of-akind. There is nothing quite like the power they hold over those who gaze upon them. They beckon the viewer to come closer, tempting them to submit to their cuteness. After all, how could anyone resist a look from the elusive yet adorable cat?"
