There are a just few more days left to see magical new paintings by Chinese artist Li Shanmei in Gallery 3 of Corey Helford Gallery! Li Shanmei is known for her oil paintings depicting otherworldly children whose spirits and physical form are one with nature and life. Her solo show ‘Lucid Dreaming’ features pieces from her ongoing ‘Mandala’ and ‘Rebirth’ series, exploring our relationships with nature and ourselves. Both beautiful and graceful, her paintings show her musings through a surreal lens, blending nature with an element of computerized graphics.
Li Shanmei’s painted children represent new age deities that adapt to the innovations of technology while also maintaining a homeostasis with their natural world. Her use of bold colors, geometry, and mandalas are nods to systems of mathematics, yet they also embody tools of spiritual guidance and ascension.
