Haley Manchon is a member of the Beautiful Bizarre Artist Directory
Haley Manchon works as a drawing artist and graphic designer based outside of Philadelphia. She is represented by MK Apothecary Gallery in Collingswood, NJ, and has her work displayed on the 2nd floor of The People’s Store in Lambertville, NJ.
Haley’s work considers the kinds of thoughts that pull her from the present moment into another state of mind. Her recent pieces use superimposed imagery of compounded features and patterns to present a visual, literal cycling of these moments. The effect is often created by using one or multiple layers of dura-lar, which allow the marks of the drawing to delicately emerge and recede. It is within this soft framework of marks that a floating, impermanent sense of self is presented.
Haley Manchon’s work focuses on isolation and self-reflection, exhibited through surrealistic portraiture and figurative drawings. Through her work, she explores the pervasive tendency to dwell on past events or succumb to anxiety about an unknown future, thereby disconnecting from the present moment.
As someone who has always sought to do what is perceived as the “right thing,” Haley’s work also delves into the realisation that nothing in life is set in stone. The lack of stability becomes a central theme, underscoring the transient nature of existence and the uncertainty that accompanies personal growth and maturity.
It is through these visuals that she encourages empathy and understanding from the viewer, fostering a collective sense of shared vulnerability in the face of life’s uncertainties.
