What do you get when charm, elegance, and a touch of fantasy come together complete with whiskers and waistcoats? In her latest exhibition, “Ladies and Gentlemouses,” artist Gina Matarazzo welcomes us into a whimsical world where mice dress in refined fashion, carry themselves with grace, and exude distinct personalities. About ‘Ladies and Gentlemouses’
There is a long, rich, world-wide history of humans being captivated by our animal counterparts. From architecture to textiles, books and films to tattoos…can you even think of ONE area in our culture that animals have NOT been incorporated into our lives?
I enjoy keeping this historical tradition going, musing about our most common four-footed friends. What do they really think of us? Do they think we are just some kind of giant animals? Do they see us as being separate from them in any way? Humans dream of spirit animals…do they dream of spirit humans? So many questions to ponder! Every painting I create is really just an ode to their sincere little lives and our fond connection with them. I wouldn’t want to imagine a world without animals, so I imagine a world with ALL animals. I hope my new collection brings you joy and warmth in your heart!

About Gina Matarazzo //
An award-winning artist known for her colorful and whimsical portraits of animals, Gina Matarazzo aims to show the viewer a magical way of looking at ordinary things. Through their point of view, she tries to reveal truths on how to be more genuine like animals are and be in tune with the things that matter the most in life. Her work is meant to distract the beholder from the difficulties that the world presents to them, promote peace and joy, and to remind the viewer how there is beauty available to them if only they stop for a moment and take notice.
