Paulina Góra is a Polish visual artist, whose works mainly focuses on the symbolic and metaphorical nature of the world surrounding us. Born in a small town of Tuchów, she was educated in computer graphics, before shifting her focus onto self-taught oil painting, which has been her forte ever since 2007.
A lifelong mythology aficionado, she enjoys inputting reference s to various legends and myths from different cultures into her works. Paulina uses her skills in painting as a means of telling a narrative, concentrating on transferring her own experiences and feelings onto the canvas.
Among her favorite’s quote is “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see” by Edgar Degas. Paulina strives to widen the perspective of those who fry to understand her art, attempting to form a dialogue, provoke reflection, and reiterate the fact that interpretation of art is something that reflects more so on the consumer, rather that the author themselves.
Paulina Góra’s works delves deep inside the mind and the very nature of human being, bringing attention to the subconscious, dreams and hidden childhood memories.
Her paintings act as a lens into those forgotten memories, bringing out sensitivity, vulnerability and tenderness that normally gets lost during the hardships of daily life. Most visual themes of her works contain imagery of children, alongside toys, depictions of flora and fauna, or objects of daily use, that are meant to act as various symbols, important to the artist herself, as well to the wider mankind.
