What is your favourite part of the creative process and why?
The beginning process of composing an idea is always the best part. It’s the moment when everything is still possible, and the image can take on different directions. I enjoy the trial and error, adding and subtracting elements, moving things around until everything feels right. It’s about finding the balance between what needs to be there and what can be left out, telling the image’s story without overdoing it.
What advice did you get as a young artist that still influences you today?
Never settle, never get comfortable, keeping improving your skills.
What do you want the viewer to feel when they view your work?
It’s been my experience that most people first view in an image, what they bring to it. Lesser numbers are able to see past that and view the world through my eyes by my creation. The very few tell me something about myself from my work, that I hadn’t realized.
How do you feel about the recent changes to Instagram ie. reels, deprioritizing photos?
More often than not, I feel that changes in business happen not because they’re necessary, but because someone in the corporate bureaucracy needs to justify their existence. This often leads to unnecessary changes that complicate processes that were already working just fine. Instead of solving actual problems, people end up making adjustments simply to appear productive. For me, change should serve a purpose, not just give the illusion of progress.
