Inspired by dreams and the world around, this collection of paintings is an adventure. Get your ticket and board an air ship to the Land of Vaux. All are welcome, but be kind, for there are beasts abroad that will feast on bad behavior. Safe travels.

Joe Vaux was born in Islip, New York in 1972 and currently lives and works in Los Angeles. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1994 with BFA Illustration, after which time he started his career in the animation industry. Joe’s fine art has been exhibited internationally and he partaken in numerous group and solo shows, as well as a couple of museum exhibits. Joe Vaux’s name may be familiar to many, through his work as a director on the the hugely popular animated TV series ‘Family Guy’.

However, Vaux also engages his boundless imagination and creative skills as a prodigious fine artist. The paintings Joe concocts lead viewers into a bizarre, yet strangely familiar world, populated with ghoulish creatures who collectively engender twisted visions sprinkled with generous spoonfuls of humour. It is by way of Joe’s fun loving personality that this all important ingredient of humour injects a remarkably playful and distinctly human flavour to his narratives, often shining a light, albeit a metaphorically caliginous and creepy one, on our dreams, fears and all the other good stuff which inextricably goes into making us human.

ANNIE MONTGOMERIE //

Welcome to my world of storybook beings. Curious creatures from the outside to display inside. Each piece is individual and unique, and because of the recycled nature of my work no two pieces will be quite the same. Most of my fabrics are foraged locally where I live in Dorset UK. I use muslin, 100% wool felt, ‘up-cycled’ wool garments, velvet, leather, cotton, moleskin and blankets for wall hangings and figures. I then stitch on curious little things I find including vintage buttons, charms and jewellery.

IAN ‘BUB’ DAVIS //

“Statement: “I started drawing as a kid and continued to develop my craft as an adult working dirtbag jobs.” Ian shares. “I was sorting rusty junk at a salvage yard when I met the gallerist who offered to host my first legit solo show. I often draw inspiration from my experiences as a working class slob and from the comrades I have served with. This body of work is a love note to the true American heroes: servers, cashiers, field crew, delivery people…and anybody else who has eaten a gas station burrito for breakfast before their shift starts or taken a nap in the overstock room on their break.”

Ian “Bub” Davis is a self taught traditional artist who explores themes of class, gender and dystopia using surrealism. Bub’s PNW roots and labor background are often reflected in his work. He lives in Seattle with his partner, two cats and a golden dojo loach.
