Stepping Into Magic with o gallery

Opening an art gallery is not an easy task, especially when you’re in your mid-twenties and navigating the world’s current chaotic climate but this hasn’t stopped o gallery’s founder Laura Christophersen from doing just that. At only 26 years old, she has not only managed to pull off opening a new art gallery focused on magical realism but has made her mark on the art scene in style.

The Denmark based gallery opened its doors back in January 2025 to a flurry of over 300 enthusiastic visitors all hungry to discover the world of magical realism. Since its opening, the gallery has continued to climb to new heights, setting new standards within the industry thanks to their meticulously curated exhibitions and unwavering passion and focus on the magical realism genre.

In this exclusive interview with o gallery, we caught up with Laura to learn more about the gallery’s rapid ascent, discuss current and upcoming exhibitions and take a peek into the exciting launch of their exclusive print studio, o edition.

Watching someone emotionally moved by art, knowing we helped create that experience…it’s magical.

Interview with Laura Christophersen

Laura, I’d first of all like to congratulate you on a phenomenal first three months! How would you describe the journey since opening o gallery?

Thank you so much! It’s been absolutely extraordinary—like stepping into a dream that keeps going. The response has been beyond anything I could’ve imagined. Seeing how deeply visitors connect with our exhibitions, and knowing we’ve become a home for magical realism, truly fuels my passion.

Your current exhibition ‘Spotlight: FLORA’, has been generating a lot of excitement. Could you share more about the artists and works featured?

Absolutely! We’re delighted to feature incredible solo exhibitions by Amanda Greive, Forest Rogers, Lesley Thiel, and Lars Rasmussen. Amanda’s introspective paintings beautifully explore emotional vulnerability, Forest’s captivating sculptures fuse fantasy with deep symbolism, Lesley’s meticulous portrayals of realism intertwined with magic, and Lars Rasmussen’s intriguing blend of realism and mystique have resonated deeply with visitors. It’s truly an extraordinary collective of magical realism at its finest.

And your upcoming exhibition from May to June seems equally as mesmerising. Could you tell us more about these next batch of shows?

Definitely! Starting May 10th, we’ll be showcasing remarkable artists Ana Priscila Rodriguez from the Netherlands, Kevin Foote and Dave Seeley from the USA, and Yoann Penard from France. Each of these artists brings something profoundly unique—Ana’s ethereal narratives, Kevin’s delicate yet potent storytelling, Yoann’s surreal visions, and Dave’s masterful blend of fantasy and sci-fi realism. It’s an exhibition crafted to immerse viewers in worlds both familiar and fantastically new.

Fifteen out of the twenty artists featured at o gallery are women. Was this an intentional choice on your part?

It’s interesting you mention that! It wasn’t intentional at all—I simply chose artists whose works truly resonated with me, those who I felt represent the very best of magical realism. It actually took me a while to even realise that most of them were women, and I think it’s a wonderful and slightly amusing coincidence. Ultimately, my focus has always been purely on the quality and depth of the art.

You’ve already hosted your first artist talks. How has the audience response been?

It’s been incredible! Artist talks provide such meaningful insights, allowing visitors to connect deeper with both the art and the creators behind it. Seeing artists and audiences engage in genuine, inspiring dialogue is immensely rewarding.

Can you tell us a bit about the launch of o edition, your gallery’s very own print studio?

Yes! o edition is our dream to make exquisite art more accessible, without compromising exclusivity. We’re producing high-quality giclée prints from carefully selected magical realist artists, printed on luxurious papers like Hahnemühle Albrecht Dürer and Fabriano, known for their remarkable texture and vibrant color reproduction. Every print will be limited, numbered, signed by the artist, and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. We wanted each print to feel as precious as the original artwork.

Why was it important for you to add a print studio to the gallery?

It’s about connection and intimacy. Original works often find homes quickly, and I wanted more people to experience the emotional depth and beauty these artists convey. With o edition, collectors can own something truly unique and intimately connected to the artist’s vision, at a more accessible scale.

Your passion is contagious! What has been your most rewarding moment so far?

Honestly, the joy on people’s faces when they first walk into the gallery—it’s priceless. Watching someone emotionally moved by art, knowing we helped create that experience…it’s magical. That connection is exactly why I opened o gallery.

Do you have any parting words for all of our art enthusiasts?

Come and dream with us! Art is a journey, and we’re just getting started. I promise, there’s so much more magic ahead.
