About the Gallery //
Haven Gallery is run by Erica Berkowitz and Joseph Weinreb. The gallery first opened in 2015 in the Carriage House of historic Northport, NY. Within two years, the gallery doubled in size and expanded into the entire Carriage House building. Through their successful in-house exhibitions and presentations at art fairs both domestic and international, Haven opened a secondary location at 90 Main St., in 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic. It was at that point, that Erica and Joseph knew it was time to find a permanent location for their artists. In January of 2022, they bought the building at 50 Main st., and opened its doors as Haven Gallery’s perennial home.
Haven Gallery’s focus is on exhibiting emotionally, intellectually and imaginatively driven, representational artwork that connects the audience and artist with universal axioms and passions. We work with both emerging and established artists who transcend their medium and subjects by exploring the world around them as well as the one within themselves.
Orphné Achéron, Ex-Voto
Haven Gallery is honored to present France based artist, Orphne Acheron, for her third solo show, “Ex-Voto”, at Haven Gallery. “Ex-Voto” is a collection of ten mixed media paintings (ink, acrylic and gold paint), elegantly portraying motifs of votives through Acheron’s signature style, bending aesthetic traditions of antiquity, art nouveau and art deco periods. Through this historical lens, Acheron reminds the viewer to appreciate and pay tribute to the magnificence of the world and life all around us.

ARTIST STATEMENT
The works of the “Ex-voto” collection are inspired by votive paintings that demonstrate gratitude for divine intervention in daily life, offered in fulfillment of a vow or as a token of thanks for a favour received. Each work in this collection is a tribute to a deity, a sacred place or an ordinary moment of the day.
ABOUT ORPHNE ACHERON
Orphne Acheron is a painter and illustrator inspired by Antiquity, mythology and medieval times. She studied fashion and art history in a Parisian school. Orphne, “nymph of Darkness” was the wife of Acheron, an underground branch of the Styx, carrying the souls of the dead… This name chosen by the artist thus evokes Eternity, Mythology, immersion in mysterious depths. One will find in the drawings of Orphné Achéron strength and melancholy. Warriors or spectral, contemplative and protective creatures. A struggle between chaos and inner peace.

Yoko d’Holbachie, New Works
Haven Gallery is honored to present Japan based artist, Yoko d’Holbachie, for her fourth solo show, “New Works” at Haven Gallery. “New Works” focuses on the art of the narrative as influenced by mythologies and dreams, painted stylistically in d’Holbachie’s technicolor palette. A parade of magic, hue and imagination delightfully fill up each composition, creating a visual feast of females from folklore surrounded by maximalist details and winsome familiars. d’Holbachie’s paintings are a tour de force of imaginative splendor and artistic stylization posthumously preserving and interpreting timeless tales.

ABOUT YOKO D’HOLBACHIE
Yoko d’Holbachie was born in 1971 in Yokohama, Japan, and studied design and art at Tama Art University in Tokyo. She has worked for almost 10 years as a freelance designer for advertisements, books and magazines, as well as doing design for entertainment and video games. She began to show artwork in the US in 2008. She has lived in Yokohama but also teaches art in Tokyo a few days a week. Her preference is a parrot, a cuttlefish, a slime mold, white wine and static electricity.
Chris Becker, City of Another Time
Haven Gallery is honored to present New York based artist, Chris Becker, for his first solo show, “City of Another Time”, at Haven Gallery. “City of Another Time” features a collection of eight meticulously rendered drawings of surreal cityscapes inspired by dreams of the future embedded in the ambitions of the past. Gargantuan air ships float by colossal skyscrapers, designed with both medieval traditions, inspiration from film and current architectural attributes of the artists own home turf, New York City. Plummeting perspectives, plays on scale and a suspenseful use of monochromatic medium, creates a world both psychological and quixotic; a world dreamt up from the dreams and imaginings of Becker as he reminds us of the power of human innovation and ambition.

ARTIST STATEMENT
A century ago it seemed like cities of the future would be like visions from our dreams. Skyscrapers towering into the sky like cathedrals; giant airships soaring overhead in a majestic display of the power of technology. This series is inspired by the dreams of that era – notable influences include the film Metropolis, the illustrations of Hugh Ferriss, and other historical sites that never came to be from the book “Never Built New York”. Some of those dreams came alive in the brief window when the willpower was there, and others remained as faded memories of dreams alone. This set of illustrations are inspired by the future we never had — the City of Another Time.

ABOUT CHRIS BECKER
Chris Becker is an artist and software engineer, who once dreamed of being an architect, based in New York City. He enjoys exploring surreal, fantastical forms that spark the imagination and conjure thoughts of dreams and strange new worlds. His art is often inspired by classical architecture, technology from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the wealth of natural wonders to be found everywhere between the earth and the sky. Some of the art he most enjoys include the great vibrant landscapes of the Hudson River School, photography from the early 20th century, and the work of artists such as Hugh Ferriss, M.C. Escher, Yoshitaka Amano, as well as other contemporary fantasy and steampunk artists.
As a self-taught artist, Chris was inspired to paint at the age of 7 after watching Bob Ross on TV. Over the years he picked up digital art, and then settled into working primarily with graphite on paper and panel. Chris grew up in upstate New York and went to college in Buffalo, NY where he studied cognitive science and computational linguistics. He has worked in the technology industry for nearly two decades while developing his artwork on the side.

Valerie Savarie, Imaginary Friends
Haven Gallery is honored to present Colorado based artist, Valerie Savarie, for her second solo show, “Imaginary Friends” at Haven Gallery. “Imaginary Friends” is a whimsically enchanting collection of sculptures made from vintage books that tell the story of imaginary friends. Each book is thoughtfully selected to thematically and aesthetically embrace Savarie’s characters and support their unique narratives. “Imaginary Friends” focuses on our animal familiars and friends; imaginatively cultivated from our young and inventive minds, that still reside within our hearts today.

ABOUT VALERIE SAVARIE
Valerie Savarie, known for her altered book sculptures, is a mixed media artist living in Denver Colorado. She uses vintage books as the centerpiece of her artistic creations, reinventing them into unique pieces through cutting, carving, stitching and character illustrations, while also retelling the stories inside.
