In the heart of Downtown Petaluma, Nanny Goat Gallery prepare to wrap up an incredible year, having opened their doors to sculptors and painters from around the world in no less than sixteen unique exhibitions! Before the gallery owners Emily and Paul Eccles close the gallery doors for a well-earned rest, you can still catch their current annual small works exhibit, Gems 3, as well as three solo exhibitions from artists Hazel Newton, Virus and Ashlee Hampton.
Gems 3 and their solo exhibitions celebrating works by Hazel Newton, Virus and Ashlee Hampton are the latest endeavours to uplift the careers of emerging artists; something inherently important to both Paul and Emily. “I feel that there are plenty of galleries out there that are happy to show an artist once they’re popular or more established. We, however, simply find it incredibly rewarding to watch an artist flourish and get noticed: to be by their side and help them to develop a client base, grow in confidence, and expand their portfolio.” explains Emily.
There’s nothing more exciting than coming across a mostly undiscovered artist and inviting them to contribute to an exhibit. Solo shows are quite difficult to obtain from what we’ve heard and so offering a great, dedicated artist that chance is so rewarding.
And where we do we often find new and emerging artists? We find new artists mostly through social media (follows, searches) and art magazines *ahem* namely Beautiful Bizarre Magazine… we really do!
Emily Eccles, Nanny Goat Gallery
As a relatively new gallery on the scene (Nanny Goat Gallery opened in July 2024), Paul and Emily’s down to earth and earnest direction as gallery owners helped to quickly establish themselves as a respected hub for both local and international artists. Having had artists – even in their so-called “newbie phase” – come from as far as England and Canada to see their shows, it’s clear that the artists they work with believe in the gallery. Such acts have left a positive mark on the duo: “Honestly, it’s probably what I enjoy most about this ‘job’.” muses Emily. “Not that it feels like a job. It’s not a job,” she laughs, “it’s a blast.”
Want to see their collection of works in person? All four current exhibitions are on show until 13th December 2025.

Nanny Goat Gallery will open again on 20 February 2026!
The gallery will open in 2026 with their group exhibition Imagine, plus two gorgeous solo exhibitions from emerging artists: US-based artist Liz Bradford and Spain’s Ana Neves. Imagine will feature the work of over 40 incredible artists from around the world and looks to be an uplifting show during what Emily and Paul feel is a difficult time.
We feel that in the midst of these difficult times, the public could use an inspirational collection of art that imagines the world were it unfettered by war, political chaos and famine. We asked the artists to present work that embodies the beauty of nature and mankind when unspoiled by negativity. It’s an escape that only art can truly provide.”
We’re grateful for a successful 2025 and we’ll see you February 20th, 2026 for a new chapter!

About Nanny Goat Gallery //
Taking roots in the Petaluma arts scene, Nanny Goat Gallery celebrates new and contemporary representational art, predominantly in the pop surreal, narrative, and fantasy genres. Far from the minimalist white walls experience, Nanny Goat Gallery happily leans into its historical foundations. The gallery boasts a two-room space with rustic brick walls, across the street from the river in downtown Petaluma.

Why “Nanny Goat” Gallery?
During the 1940s to the 1960s, spanning three generations, members of Emily Eccles’ family resided on a picturesque hill in San Francisco affectionately referred to as Nanny Goat Hill. Memories of her family home evoke tales of its humble beginnings; the transformations it underwent, and the countless cherished moments shared within its walls—abundant laughter mingled with the occasional challenge.
Fast forward to today, and Emily’s journey, with her husband and gallery co-owner Paul, continues with the establishment of their gallery in Petaluma, nestled just 20 miles north of the vibrant city. This endeavor is truly a family affair, with each member contributing their unique expertise: Emily’s husband brings his skills in technology and law to the table, and Emily’s mom lends her financial acumen as CPA.
Yet, even in this modern venture, the spirits of her beloved grandmother and great-grandmother seem to linger, weaving their legacy into every aspect of their endeavor – an element that fills Emily Eccles’ heart with profound joy.
