Emily Dewsnap is a professional artist based in West Yorkshire. Originally from Glossop in the Peak District, she spent her youth aspiring to be a singer and writer. However, Emily was never far from a pencil and sketch pad and sold my first painting at the age of 17.
As a working-class artist, she found the cost of living challenging when she left Glossop to attend Leeds university and discovered that she could make a decent income selling fetish art and taking on commissions. From then on, Emily realized that she was destined to be an artist and it was the best decision she ever made.
In 2020, Emily decided to close commissions to concentrate on the work she was passionate about, focusing on body positivity and imaginative realism.
Emily Dewsnap’s work focuses on figurative subjects with dark, magical and often erotic interpretations. She has a fascination for strong, mythical women and nature elements, and try to bring these subjects together into pieces that portray feminine strength and beauty. Being an artist in Yorkshire has given her unfettered access to fantastically wild and beautiful landscapes, awash with wonderful flora and fauna, as well as a wealth of folklore.
