Opening on February 21st, Nanny Goat Gallery unveil three new exhibitions at once – Roots, a group show featuring the work of 35+ artists, plus Rhea O’Neill’s solo Unbounded Light, and Tammy Whitworth’s solo A Gentle Connection. Each exhibition works in harmony with the other, exploring the depths of each artist’s relationship with the natural world in an expansion of 2D and 3D artworks.
We’re so proud of the work the artists have put forward for these exhibits! I can’t stress enough how much it means to us that we have been so welcomed by the community. We hope they – and you – come to celebrate this special night with us.

Roots
A sneak peek at Nanny Goat Gallery’s upcoming group show Roots shares an array of curious artworks. Michael Campbell’s fungi-infused sculptural axe emits a strong juxtaposition of organic against metal, while Bub Davis’ monochromatic illustration merges fantasy with inner truths. Svetlana Matveeva’s sculpture brings a delicate beauty, while intricate paintings by Noah Norrid and Laura Thipphawong invite us to see the natural world with fresh eyes. Above all, each artwork in Roots focuses on both the artists’ roots to nature and their personal family traditions, creating a multi-levelled ode to nature – and a stark reminder to how we humans are still intrinsically intertwined with the natural world.

Rhea O’Neill: Unbounded Light
Heavily inspired by her surroundings in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, UK-born artist Rhea O’Neill’s paintings celebrate the bountiful energy of nature, embodying her personal, life-long fascination with an imagined animal existence. Her use of vibrant yet still organic colour schemes breathe life into her subjects, often focussing on the animals and wildlife of her local area. A finalist in the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize 2024, Rhea O’Neill understands and leans into the evolution of herself as an artist. This latest solo show celebrates her further move towards a more delicate creative approach, including thin glazes and a careful attention to detail.
“Rhea has a way of capturing our natural environment as you have never quite seen it before: wild, twisted greens tumble about nature’s sweetest sentient beings.”
Emily Eccles, co-owner of Nanny Goat Gallery.
Tammy Whitworth: A Gentle Connection
Australian artist Tammy Whitworth connects with nature and the universe through paint. Her works live in the space between the real and the surreal, providing affectionate depictions of nature imbued with a feeling of calm and wonder.
Tammy Whitworth’s surreal oil paintings are love letters to the unpredictable forces in nature; nature unfettered by a human footprint.

Why “Nanny Goat” Gallery?
During the 1940s to the 1960s, spanning three generations, members of Emily Eccles’ family resided on a picturesque hill in San Francisco affectionately referred to as Nanny Goat Hill. Memories of her family home evoke tales of its humble beginnings; the transformations it underwent, and the countless cherished moments shared within its walls—abundant laughter mingled with the occasional challenge.
Fast forward to today, and Emily’s journey, with her husband and gallery co-owner Paul, continues with the establishment of their gallery in Petaluma, nestled just 20 miles north of the vibrant city. This endeavor is truly a family affair, with each member contributing their unique expertise: Emily’s husband brings his skills in technology and law to the table, and Emily’s mom lends her financial acumen as CPA.
Yet, even in this modern venture, the spirits of her beloved grandmother and great-grandmother seem to linger, weaving their legacy into every aspect of their endeavor – an element that fills Emily Eccles’ heart with profound joy.
