Modern Eden Press Release //
Whimsical Whirligigs presents a new series of graphite drawings by Northern California artist Ron Norman. In these works, Norman turns his meticulous hand toward the strange machinery of imagination, where human invention collides with dreamlike forms. Figures pedal fantastical contraptions, celestial bodies sprout wings and tentacles, and hybrid objects drift through open skies.
The series continues Normanโs exploration of surrealism and oddity, but with a playful twist. Each drawing hovers between the mechanical and the organic, inviting viewers to consider the curious intersections of invention, whimsy, and wonder. Like forgotten toys or half-remembered dreams, these โwhirligigsโ spin freely in the imagination, offering moments of levity and discovery while still echoing the deeper themes of impermanence and transformation that ground the artistโs practice.
