There’s something about this moment – early April in the US – when the season shifts and everything edges back into growth. You catch the first hints of green pushing through winter’s gray, the first bloom daring to emerge. With it comes a wave of reflection and renewal that stirs a sense of movement and anticipation for what’s next. Tonight Modern Eden Gallery celebrates ‘Restless Garden’, a new group show that opens into that energy, tracing our relationship with the natural world and the quiet embrace to change with it.
Rhea O’Neill’s ‘Dreamlands’ captivating solo exhibition parallels the experience while answering the call of the wild. This collection asks us to look beyond the human gaze and honor the delicate balance of nature and the precious creatures who move, rest, and thrive within it.

Restless Garden is presented in conjunction with Earth Day 2026 and brings together new works that explore nature as a living, shifting force shaped by both care and resistance. Long understood as a cultivated space, the garden also holds tension between wildness and control, growth and decay, intention and chance. This exhibition considers the garden not as a static subject but as something active and unsettled, an environment in constant negotiation and always becoming.

Rhea O’Neill presents a series of luminous, nature-inspired paintings that explore the quiet, complex worlds inhabited by animals and the landscapes they move through. Born in the UK and now based in Northern California, O’Neill draws inspiration from the region’s golden light and abundant flora and fauna, using strong color and heightened contrast to create emotionally charged scenes that feel both real and dreamlike.
Influenced by early encounters with fantasy literature, her work often suggests hidden narratives unfolding beyond the human gaze, where animals are portrayed as individuals with presence and agency. Through the traditional medium of oil painting O’Neill creates atmospheric portraits that reflect on the fragile balance between the natural world and human encroachment, inviting viewers to consider nature not as background, but as a living community deserving of attention and respect.
