Arch Enemy Arts has a way of enticing viewers with their discerning eye and intriguing exhibitions. On Friday, June 3, 2016, they celebrate the opening of two enchanting collections for a night sure to shine. Delving deep into the fascinating dichotomy between life and death, Caitlin Hackett’s new series of work, ‘For Your Bones We Wait’, is an innate extension of her artistic vision. The thematic elements revolve around the fragility of life and loss drift in parallel to the relationship between humans and animals.
“The show’s title comes from a famous Ossuary, a chapel of bones in Portugal called Capella Dos Ossos, which has a quote above the main entrance that reads, “We bones that are here for your bones we wait”. Caitlin found the symbolism of these Ossuaries incredibly relevant to what she wanted to create for this show. The idea of a world built up on the bones of the lost, the countless extinction, the dead beyond counting… all making the very earth we stand on, a world of ghosts.” ~ Patrick Shillenn
And that’s not all, also opening is the group exhibition, ‘As Above, So Below’, featuring new works by Audrey Pongracz, Bruce Parker, Buddy Nestor, Caitlin McCormack, Carly Janine Mazur, Colin Frangicetto, Dave Correia, Drew Leshko, Gretchen Lewis, Heather McLean, Lioba Brückner, Naoto Hattori, Nick Sheehy, Paul Romano, Peca, Rachael Bridge, and Tom Bagshaw.
Each artist created an ambigram to convey various symbolic elements that retain meaning when viewed or interpreted from different directions.
