Krisztina Lazar is an imaginary realist painter creating artworks she calls Pop Shamanism, portals, and portraits that speak to today’s cultural intersection of the occult, fantasy, visionary experience, and mythology.

Krisztina completed her BFA at Carnegie Mellon University in 2004 and her MFA graduate degree in 2011 at the San Francisco Art Institute New Genres department.
Her paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows throughout the United States and Europe, most notably at the H.R. Geiger museum in Gruyere, Switzerland.

Krisztina Lazar’s current body of work “Motherhood Mythos” taps into the deep archetypes, stories, and cultural frameworks that transcend the biological experience of bearing and raising children. Across cultures and epochs, motherhood has been imbued with symbolic meaning, linking it to creation, nurturing, sacrifice, protection, ferociousness, and transformation.
These are the themes she is bringing to life in her work. Becoming a mother two years ago has become an endless wellspring of inspiration and her son is often Krisztina’s subject and artistic contributor.
Krisztina Lazar’s paintings have been featured notable magazines and online sources including American Art Collector, Strange Attractors: Investigations into Non-Humanoid Extraterrestrial Sexualities, and Live/Work: Working at Home, Living at Work.
