On September 5, Haven Gallery opens four exhibitions that, while each are deeply individual, seem to share a certain sense of magic. Katie Gamb’s Sleepwalkers, Ryoko Rio’s Invitation, Shinya Takanezawa’s Journey to the West, and Inna Voronova’s The World That Noticed Her invite us into mysticism, starlight, symbolism, and stories that continue far beyond the edges of the work itself.
There is so much to discover in each of these new collections… so many small details and moments to linger over that you can easily find yourself absorbed in them. And perhaps that’s one of the special things I find most meaningful about art: its ability to give us somewhere else to go and feel connected through wonder and imagination.

About the Gallery //
Haven Gallery is run by Erica Berkowitz and Joseph Weinreb. The gallery first opened in 2015 in the Carriage House of historic Northport, NY. Within two years, the gallery doubled in size and expanded into the entire Carriage House building. Through their successful in-house exhibitions and presentations at art fairs both domestic and international, Haven opened a secondary location at 90 Main St., in 2020, during the height of the Covid pandemic. It was at that point, that Erica and Joseph knew it was time to find a permanent location for their artists. In January of 2022, they bought the building at 50 Main st., and opened its doors as Haven Gallery’s perennial home.
Haven Gallery’s focus is on exhibiting emotionally, intellectually and imaginatively driven, representational artwork that connects the audience and artist with universal axioms and passions. We work with both emerging and established artists who transcend their medium and subjects by exploring the world around them as well as the one within themselves.
Katie Gamb, Sleepwalkers

Haven Gallery is honored to present US (Wisconsin) based artist Katie Gamb for her third solo show “Sleepwalkers”, at the gallery. “Sleepwalkers” will feature oil paintings following the artists stylized sitters and animal companions as they meander through the landscape in a dream like state. Whether they themselves are in a dream, or they’re entering a landscape of reverie, the work encourages viewers to take an alternative perspective at their own day to day, and the magic surrounding us all.
About Katie Gamb //
Katie Gamb is an illustrator living and painting in a small, cozy corner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her love of narrative and the natural world informs her artwork, which is influenced by the fairy tales she immersed herself in as a shy, bookish child, as well as the forests she wandered growing up in the rural Midwest. She particularly enjoyed studying tiny worlds that often went unnoticed, creating backstories and personalities for the creatures she came across.
Since graduating from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design with a BFA in Illustration, her work has been shown in galleries around the world, and resides in homes around the country. Although most of her time is spent drawing and painting, she still reads voraciously and wanders among the trees whenever she gets the chance.
Ryoko Rio, Invitation
Northport, NY– Haven Gallery is honored to present “Invitation”, a solo show of new ceramic sculptures from Oregon based artist Ryoko Rio. “Invitation” is Ryoko’s second solo show at the gallery and will feature eleven ceramic sculptures of cats, dogs and rabbits, adorned with varying hand painted and sculpted details. Each companion engages the viewer with bright eyes and buoyancy as they step one foot (or paw) in our world, with the other in a wellspring of folklore and fairytales. Rio’s sculptures return us to our childhood imaginary friends as they very much are still apart of who we are.
About Ryoko Rio //
Ryoko is an US based ceramic artist who grew up in Japan. Growing up in the city near a traditional pottery village gave her the opportunity to familiarize herself with clay at an early age.
Her current works are mainly inspired by animals, especially dogs and cats, often mixed with elements that are influenced by Japanese folktales and her favorite books from childhood.
“I enjoy working in details both three dimensional and colorful, choosing materials to aim at making sculptures that look like paintings or jewelry with contrast in different textures.
My work is a reflection of my sensitive feelings and comfort that I receive from animals, as well as stories that are about misunderstood or unnoticed characters. I remember reading those stories gave me some warm feelings as a child, because I knew that those characters were no longer unnoticed or misunderstood as I read their stories. I felt like I found secret friends. I also love visually cute, beautiful or sparkly things, and would like to embrace the simple joy I receive from those qualities through my creations. My work aims to provide my audience with dubious feelings by mixing the sweet and sad, the cute and strange in jewelry like sparkly forms.
Expressing my sensitive self through creating these creatures helps me feel a sense of connection to the world as who I am.
Shinya Takanezawa, Journey to the West
Haven Gallery is honored to present Japan based artist, Shinya Takanezawa, for his second show, entitled “ Journey to the West”, at the gallery. “ Journey to the West” hosts a collection of gold leaf, oil paint, and tempera paintings tying traditional methods and mythologies with contemporary stylization and narratives.

By combining and mixing various images from the past to the present using gold leaf, oil paint, and tempera, I hope to create a world never seen before. Why not join me in exploring a wonderland far from your everyday life?
Inna Voronova, The World that Noticed Her
Haven Gallery is honored to present Florida based artist, Inna Voronova, for her first show, entitled “The World that Noticed Her”, at the gallery. “ The World that Noticed Her” features five acrylic paintings of surrealist entities embedded with emotion and the multifaceted nature of trust.
Show Statement //
The World That Noticed Her explores the quiet connection between the human and the living world — a place where trust becomes a way of seeing.
Strange beings are held without fear. Night takes on a living form. A moon descends to the earth, faces emerge from leaves and flowers, and the natural world slowly begins to look back.
Moving between tenderness and mystery, these works imagine a world in which nature is not a silent background, but a presence with its own memory and awareness. Human and other, familiar and unknown, exist beside one another without the need to be explained or tamed.
Perhaps the world has always been alive and watching. Perhaps we become visible to it only when we learn how to see it.
About Inna Voronova //
Born in 1975 in Altai, Russia, my artistic journey was deeply influenced by the picturesque landscapes of my homeland. With a degree in Architectural Space Design, I have actively participated in art exhibitions and projects both in Russia and internationally.
In 2008, I moved to Moscow, where I continued to enrich collections with my works. In 2009 I enrolled in Icon Painting Workshop of E. Ilyinskaya. This pivotal step marked the beginning of my career as an icon painter, creating icons and altar screens for cathedrals across Russia. For 15 years, my works have been featured in private collections in the USA, Russia, Greece, Portugal, Montenegro, Serbia, the Czech Republic, and Germany.
In 2022, after relocating to Miami, Florida, I continue to explore new ideas and experiment with different techniques and styles. My journey as an artist reflects my experience of communicating with different cultures and my deep inner world.
