Alexandra Jabre (b.1985) is a Lebanese-British figurative artist living in London. Born in France to Lebanese parents and having lived in the UK and the USA, she is a multi-cultural and multi-faceted artist, attentive to the complexities of human connections beyond dualistic views.
Alexandra uses watercolour, gouache and acrylic paint in her practice about consciousness and energetic ties between humans to create images of deep connection to invisible forces, hidden realms, love and sexuality. She graduated from Brown University in 2007 and obtained her MFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2017.
Alexandra Jabre prioritizes kinship, closeness and intimacy as prisms through which she builds her creative universe. “Through my paintings I aim to develop a dialogue that speaks to observation, relationships, and intimacy. By exploring metaphysical connections and connecting the subconscious with a version of reality as experienced, the overlapping forms often create an ambiguous space. Within this space, human bonds and connections are the basis for my perception of ‘home’ – questioning how the idea of home as the locus of intimacy might be condensed into the concept of Love.”
