Who is this cute little creep? May I introduce:@patricia.piccinini’s ‘Shadowbat’, a truly bizarre (but loveable!) creature made from silicone, aluminium, resin, and hair. If you look closely, you will discover that this little companion is a hybrid, just as his other siblings Patricia creates. Could you resist touching this soft “skin”?
‘Birds Fly’ - and so do we! @stephrew shares another beauty in oil and gold with the world, and we are inspired. It is so easy to get lost in her detailed compositions, the diversity of textures, and delicate patterns. Stephanie shares in her statement that she has been incorporating “gold leaf into my work, exploring the relationship between the decorative reflective gold leaf surface and a fully rendered oil painting. The design and pattern of the surface and textiles have become an important part of my painted compositions.”
INSIDE ISSUE 35 // "I guess you could say there is a universal image of the child, and then our own personal image. When we see an image of a child, a reflection of our own personal past with all its limitations is implied. On the other hand, the archetype of the child is the great image of future and unbound potential. This unbound potential is embodied as the divine child that is found throughout the world’s mythologies and art. It seems the symbol of the child can bridge both of those worlds.”
