Last month I had the pleasure of speaking with Zara Kand the Editor of @the_gallerist_speaks about how my career in the arts got started, what enabled me to begin and grow @beautifulbizarremagazine, what I find most rewarding and challenging in my role as Editor-in-Chief of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, my thoughts on Beautiful Bizarre Magazine's being archived on the moon next year as part of the Lunar Codex project, plus I share some advice for aspiring artists looking to be featured by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, or elsewhere.

"One of the many facts of life is that we only see small parts of other people. Sometimes, those are the only parts they want us to see. As a result, our perceptions of others are often based on reflections of our own experiences or, in some cases, our lack of experiences."

Artist @calidagarciarawles shares further in the caption of her acrylic painting 'On the Other Side of Everything': "I feel blessed to have such beautiful, gentle and strong Black men in my life. When I see any Black man walk down the street, I can't help but be reminded of a friend or a cousin, my son, my father, my brother or even my loving husband. It's that beauty, the love and a touch of mystery that I wanted to capture with these paintings (...)."

Calida exhibited the series last year September at @lehmannmaupin in New York.
