Acclaimed fantasy writer Robin Hobb once said, “I think that my passion for writing fantasy began at about the same time as my passion for reading fantasy.”
The same can be said about Australian illustrator Rovina Cai, only Rovina started drawing instead of writing. Intrigued by the fascinating covers she came across, Rovina picked up novel after novel, becoming inspired to translate these wonderful stories into alluring art.

After getting her degree in Communication Design in Melbourne, Rovina moved to New York to get her Master’s degree in Illustration. Today she spends her days drawing, translating fantastic stories into whimsical illustrations.

October can’t come fast enough for Rovina and fans of her work: the long anticipated book ‘Tintinnabula’ by Margo Lanagan is coming out. The book is illustrated by Rovina, and judging on the preview on her website it’s going to look amazing. Dealing with the fine lines between discomfort and peace, to violence and finding a safe place, ‘Tintinnabula’ definitely deserves a spot on your Fall reading list. And your coffee table, of course.
