Macabre Gadgets’ Sculptural Jewelry

Inlaid with pearls, semi-precious stones, and gold, Macabre Gadgets creates high-relief adornments for your fingers, wrists, and neck. Referred to as “gadgets” by the makers, these bijoux are wrought in Paris, France. Having a marble-like surface similar to Greek statues, coral is predominately used to create these little sculptural forms. Along with plastics, bone, and metals, the coral is pressed into a velvety, creamy consistency. This is done by using chemical solutions on crushed coral, obtained in a way as to not harm the coral ecosystem. The result is the “bonded coral” that then can be sculpted into gadgets. Jewellery pieces have a timeless, classical quality, reminiscent of Gothic church art and architecture.

“Macabre Gadgets is inspired by the infernal aesthetics of the dark side, which is inherent by the world view of mankind at all times, epochs and styles, from the early Middle Ages to progressive postmodernism. The Macabre mood of jewels is embodied by cutting-edge & traditional jewellery execution techniques and materials.” ? Macabre Gadgets

With extreme attention to detail, handmade jewellery by Macabre Gadgets is expertly forged into deer, ravens, and sightless faces. The intricate wearable pieces of art are made commonly in white or black, circled with beautiful design accents. “Ornate minimalism” keeps coming back to me as a description when I look at the gadgets made by Macabre Gadgets. Each piece is simple, yet complex at the same time. There is no unnecessary or extravagant use of colours, just the black or white with the occasional metal or gemstone component. Details are exquisite, but not overdone; only what is necessary to bring the visualized gadget into physical form is included. The forms are complicatedly uncomplicated. Snakes intertwined with geometric shapes, skulls encrusted with shards of amethyst, unicorns with metal horns… rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets certainly drool-worthy for lovers of dark art. For those who want to go a bit more understated (I understand), you may want to see the hoops available at Adina’s as they may take your jewellery fancy.
