Does technology bring humans closer or does it move them away? And why can humans get so close yet still feel so far from each other? Here are some of the philosophical questions digital artist Adam Martinakis is asking with his fascinating sculptures. Born in Poland in 1972 and raised in Greece, this graduate of Interior Architecture, Decoration and Design at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens is one of the most surprising users of computer-generated art. Using 3D softwares, Adam Martinakis recreates bodies in futuristic atmospheres.

Between organic photorealistic human beings made of veins and androids built with filaments of precious metals, his creations express a moving range of feelings. Individual emotions or results of a physical connection between two digital flesh, they are depicted with a minimalistic intensity. Love, sexual pleasure, desire, bliss or even pain and sadness inherent to relationships: all body language is here at its peak. Frozen in time, copulating couples and screams of humanity are sharing both an elegant eroticism and discussing philosophical ideas such as sin, society and identity. His work has already earned him several international art prizes, but Adam Martinakis is planning on continually pushing it forward with real 3D vision or hologram art. He also offers a solution to the use of technology to draw people closer: art, indeed, is the better way to touch and to be touched… So, to make love, make art…
