Emric Kabal is a young self taught photographer and music video director from Lyon, in France. A fetishist of high contrasts, he creates edgy black and white photographs with intense mood and alternative beauty. In his work you can feel the influence of music, from rock atmospheres to trip hop dreams, but also of cinema, with connections to the poisoned femmes fatales of David Lynch and vintage horror movies. Indeed, the look of Emric’s models is strong and spellbinding, with sexy tattoos and piercings. They are usually heroines clad in leather or black lace, playing with both boyish arrogance and delicate sensuality. Their complex emotions collide with dynamic sacred geometry or textured luxury effects, creating a genuine dramatic atmosphere. Obviously dark, even a bit gungy and yet sharing a solemn splendor, the work of this French photographer is haunting. From the warmth of glamorous boudoirs to the coldness of minimalistic mysticism, the work of Emric Kabal is hypnotizing.
