Folasade Adeoso is a coming-of-age Nigerian-Canadian artist who worked as a model in New York with renown photographers like Kwesi Abbensetts and Baroon Clairborne. She spent years during her fashion career drawing inspiration from pop culture, fashion and music, using figures like Grace Jones, Beyonce or Sade, plus her own fashion shoots to create unique digital collages.
Folasade’s technique does not make use of complex graphic design methods but relies on line-drawing and .gif animations. Exploring themes like religion, human interaction, pop culture, ethnography, motherhood and childhood, Folasade juxtaposes images to construct new narratives which speak to the viewer of modern life, society, culture and its people.
