No artist would expect to get so much attention at the age of 20, however Silvia Grav should get used to it. Indeed, this self-taught Spanish photographer, video maker and aspiring director has already produced a very promising body of work. Silvia’s digital collages combine multiple exposures and elemental effects, edited with Photoshop, to create surrealist photographs, in black and white or soft tones.

Her work is a fascinating mix of conceptual portraiture and ominous horror movie scenarios. It is impossible to decide if flesh is evaporating or clouds taking the shape of human bodies. Between dream and angst, bliss and pain, the young models are each telling short stories about angels, star-crossed lovers and exorcism … Around those ghostly heroes, the setting hesitates between haunted houses and galaxies, increasing the impression of unreal and trance. Inside this map of clouds and dreams, the beholder is making his way, into the fantastical world of Silvia’s creation.

Simply mindblowing. Can’t wait to see what will come in the next few years if this is what we’re seeing at the age of 20. Really really impressed. The first and the last images are just so haunting but find myself coming back to them over and over again. Thanks for posting this!! x
